Creative Venture Planning

Description

The module focuses on the process involved in creating, leading and scaling entrepreneurial start-up ventures in the creative sectors. It is a project based module that runs in parallel with modules focuses on ideation and customer/market research. It is designed to bring the aspiring creative entrepreneur through a planning process up to and including the creation of a full business plan. Students will follow a design thinking process (problem-solving, ideation, testing) and business strategies (to market and commercialise) for new venture creation.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop a business plan and launch a company

  2. Select an appropriate business model for use in a given context

  3. Appraise their own leadership, personal and professional skills 

  4. Formulate plans for the different types of relationships needed to develop and build their business

  5. Professionally pitch their business/projects to investors/collaborators

  6. Evaluate their business performance in terms of cash flow management, customer acquisition, and marketing

  7. Construct high-level financial plans and prepare draft contracts and agreements

  8. Develop an enhanced network and social capital
