Data Analytics and Econometrics

Description

This module builds on elementary statistics to introduce students to the theory and methods of modern econometrics. The module introduces students to basic econometric methods and provides them with further data analytics experience on how to apply these methods in the context of real-world empirical problems.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Perform estimation of and interpret statistical significance of simple and multivariate linear regressions.

  2. Explain and conduct appropriate hypothesis testing for the underlying assumptions of the general linear regression model.

  3. Discuss specification and data issues.

  4. Construct, estimate, test and interpret models with limited dependent variables.

  5. Perform basic time series analysis.

  6. Use R to perfrom basic statistical analyses and to estimate econometric models.
