Dearcan O Donnghaile

I believe the personal element of small class sizes at ATU  has allowed me to develop an appreciation of good teacher- student relationships, as well as making strong friendships that would not be possible otherwise.

I have always loved making, mending and fixing things. Since I was very young, I have wanted to be involved in construction in one way or another.

I always excelled at the practical subjects in school and although I was also strong at the academic subjects, they never appealed to me as much.

Having completed my teaching degree (Design, Graphics and Construction) in ATU Connemara at both the Letterfrack and Wellpark campuses, I have had many opportunities while on school placements to interact with and cater for students from all walks of life.

I believe that my own experience and understanding of the hands-on practical learner has afforded me the insight to create a relaxed and student-centred environment for all students, especially those who may not excel at the academic subjects but are very talented in other areas.

I believe the personal element of small class sizes at ATU  has allowed me to develop an appreciation of good teacher- student relationships, as well as making strong friendships that would not be possible otherwise.
