Development Training

Description

Development training embraces a range of active approaches to learning which aim to develop people's ability to learn from experience. Development Training combines the concepts of development (change and growth) and training (learning specific skills).  Development Training according to Everard (1993) is a process of active learning from experience, leading to systematic and purposeful development of the whole person. The module takes the form of 12 theme based workshops. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Practice and explore the practical skills of facilitation in a safe and encouraging forum and learning to enhance these skills through discussion, tutor and peer feedback and reflective writing

  2. Articulate a broad understanding of the influence of group work and group dynamics on personal and social development.

  3. Describe and critically evaluate the conditions necessary for development training groups to work effectively.

  4. Recognise the ethical implication of their facilitation practice, make sound personal judgements and understand existing codes of practice.

  5. Articulate a broad understanding of the variety of interventions in development training and youth work.
