Digital Mapping and Multimedia
Description
This module develops the student’s ability in harnessing the potential of new developments in the field of digital mapping. It develops the understanding and skills required for the creation and presentation of digital maps. It also deals with the creation and integration of multimedia elements including video and sound.

Understand how the Internet is influencing and shaping how people view and interact with spatial data through the medium of digital maps.
Exhibit an understanding of the potential of new media in communicating with an audience
Understand the basic principles of Geographic Information Systems
Develop cartographic knowledge and skills
Have gained confidence and experience in the use of software tools for digital map generation for the web
Demonstrate knowledge and skills in use of GPS and its role in digital map production
Be capable of producing video and sound elements for a web site
Have enhanced their creative capabilities through the design and implementation of a multimedia presentation
