Dissertation

Description

This module provides the student with the skills to strengthen and develop expertise in their area of practice through the use of enhanced knowledge, reflective skills and research based practice. It will provide the student with the opportunity to devise, implement and evaluate methods for improving the quality of health and social care for populations. Students will undertake a research project in an area identified in conjunction with their research supervisor.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically appraise and evaluate the evidence base within their practice area.

  2. Identify, analyse and evaluate appropriate research methods for their project proposal.

  3. Demonstrate the synthesis and integration of knowledge showing a breadth and depth of knowledge within the area of practice through research.

  4. Complete a dissertation which enhances the knowledge base of their practice.

  5. Actively contribute to the body of professional knowledge in practice through research.
