Essential Networking

This Essential Networking module introduces the fundamentals of networking technology, with an emphasis on Ethernet and Wireless network systems. The module integrates theory with practice, applying networking principles and techniques in practical laboratories

Learning Outcomes

  1. The student will be fully competent in the specification and implementation of a modern local area network in a small sized organisation.

  2. Design, build and test a basic network in a practical application.

  3. Describe the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP).

  4. Recognise and analyse Ethernet and wireless network architectures, devices and data.
