Description

The aim of Food Legislation and Regulatory Affairs is to explore key sources of Irish and European Food law, and identify the implications for manufacturers, retailers and consumers. This module appraises the role of agencies responsible for food legislation both nationally and internationally, and identifies the implications for manufacturers, retailers and consumers. This module provides learners with an overview of the practice of risk management in food safety. The role of the media in food safety communications is also investigated.

  2. Appraise the process of food regulation and the bodies involved nationally, and at European and International levels.

  3. Discuss legal obligations relating to food production, and identify implications for food manufacturers, retailers and consumers.

  5. Critically evaluate the role of the media in food safety communications
