Description

This module will provide an introduction genealogy and family history. Students will examine the fundamental sources for Irish genealogical research, and learn to compile a family tree and family history based on primary sources.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify a range of sources that can be used in genealogical research.

  2. Interpret evidence from archival and other sources relating to family history.

  3. Organise family history data to compile a family tree and supporting research document.

  4. Assess the nature of life of specific individuals in the past and contextualise them in their contemporary setting.
