As the global tourism industry emerges from COVID-19, new employment opportunities for one of the world's largest workforces may be available to employees and career changers.
We want to help you develop your career, and have some exciting upskilling opportunities available at GMIT Galway International Hotel School, all beginning in September 2020.
1. Take a module(s) online
All modules will be delivered entirely online. You can choose from a vast range of options, including:
- International Hotel Management
- Hospitality Studies
- Food and Beverage
- Rooms Divisions
- Food Safety
- Strategic Management
Upskilling in any of these areas can help support your current role, your career change plans or simply allow you to learn more about a topic of interest.
All modules are accredited, and you will receive formal certification.
The price is dependent on the number of credits taken and the level of study.

2. Convert your current qualification to a higher level
Have you previously studied at college and meant to return to take the next level?
Now might be the time for you to convert your Level 6 award to a Bachelors degree, or your Diploma to an honours degree, and gain that promotion at work.
Options for those wishing to study an honours degree include:

All four options are delivered online from September.
You can take all modules and complete the course work in one year, or take it over two years.
3. Recognition of Prior Learning
If you have relevant work experience, you may be eligible for GMIT to recognise your prior learning in a formal process called Recognition of Prior Learning.
We can offer you full advice on this process.
4. Certificate in Culinary Arts (Springboard+)
We have once again secured funding from Springboard+ to run the Certificate in Culinary Arts
This is a nine-month culinary course which will help you prepare for, or develop your career in the food sector.

You may be invited to interview with the Head of Department as part of the application process.
The closing date for applications is at the end of August 2020. (Date TBC)
