Individual Differences III: Cross Cultural Psychology

Description

This module provides learners with a deepened understanding of the psychology of individual differences, examining how human behaviour is influenced by cultural forces. Focus is placed on cultural differences across a range of different areas, highlighting the fact that many influential theories in psychology cannot be generalized across cultures in a straightforward manner.

  1. Critically analyse the interaction between culture, beliefs, values, the environment, and behaviour

  2. Criticize the presence of ethnocentrism in the history of psychology and discuss approaches to reducing bias

  3. Critically evaluate the impact of culture in a range of areas (e.g., cognition, language, development, social relationships)

  4. Apply concepts from the course to understand behaviour of people from other cultures.
