Internet of Things Project

Description

The Internet of Things (IoT) project module provides a structured engineering project experience in the general application area of Embedded Controllers, Robotics and Internet of Things. Students work their way through a guided robotic project in a collaborative learning environment, with structured support lectures, laboratories and mentoring on selected subject areas. The module progresses from idea creation, research and planning through design, build, coding, test, problem-solving, presentation and demonstration, while incorporating agile principles. Students focus on technical skills and soft skills concurrently throughout the module.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the basics of robotic systems, and evaluate how a robotic system using esnors and actutaors could be implemented.

  2. Outline how Robotics and AI can be used to improve industrial productivity and improve society (Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0)

  3. Examine & select suitable hardware and/or software elements to use in the project.

  4. Apply problem solving techniques to technical and other issues that arise in the context of a project.

  5. Contribute to a solution of a well-defined robotic problem through collaborative and individual work.

  6. Create a simple robotic solution to a well defined IoT problem

  7. Demonstrate and critique the robotic functionality of a project.

  8. Communicate project ideas, design and deliverables, using professional tools and guidelines.

  9. Set project milestones and manage deliverables in an agile project environment.
