Introduction to MATLAB Programming

Description

This module introduces basic computer programming structures, which are used to design, calculate and display the solutions to practical problems in the fields of applied physics and mathematics.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Discuss the main components of a modern computer system.

  2. Construct the fundamental elements of a computer program using a high-level language: i.e., data input/output, data format, data operators, iterative and conditional structures, functions and graphics.

  3. Translate verbal/mathematical problems into appropriate coding structures.

  4. Predict results expected on execution of code.

  5. Identify and solve basic errors in computer code.

  6. Recognise and discuss the importance and limitations of software methodologies.
