I have loved food and cooking for as long as I can remember, and when looking to study a degree in this area, ATU Galway seemed like a great fit. As an international student from Dubai, the move to Galway City has been fun and so welcoming. During my studies I have enjoyed getting the opportunity to compete in several competitions and work and learn from some great lecturers. My favourite modules have been all the practical ones especially the art of pastry, baking and desserts.

Following the completion of my 12-week placement at Ashford Castle, I gained valuable experience that played a pivotal role in my achievement as a finalist in the 2022 World Skills competition. To any students considering the course I would advise to come in with an open mind, taste everything and try your best to improve a little bit every day.
