Manufacturing Automation 2

The student will analyse basic pnuematic/hydraulic manufacturing applications and develop automated solutions using Programmable Logic Control (PLC) technology. PLC ladder logic programmes will be designed, developed and tested.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Specify suitable components/sequences for industrial automated applications

  2. Construct basic ladder logic programmes using Boolean Logic, IOs, timers, counters, sequencing

  3. Demonstate competence in wiring, programming and testing PLCs

  4. Develop an awareness of, and be able to implement safety measures in the design of automated systems
