Hotel School Careers & Recruitment Fair
Over forty organisations representing some 100 employers in Hotel, Tourism, Retail and Event Management are to exhibit at the annual GMIT Hotel School Careers & Recruitment Fair in GMIT on Wednesday next, 7 March.
Companies from all over Ireland, as well as the UK, US, and France will have stands at the event with representatives seeking to recruit students, graduates and industry professionals. They will be accepting applications for both full-time and work placement positions. The Fair takes place in the Dublin Road campus, Galway, from 1.30 to 4.30pm.
Catherine Keegan, Visitor Experience Manager at Guinness Storehouse, says: “We are coming to the Careers Fair to recruit students and graduates for summer positions at Guinness Storehouse. We employed a number of confident, enthusiastic and outgoing interns from GMIT Hotel School in 2011, and we hope to do the same again this year.”
Seamus Shaughnessy, Operations Director, Highlife Ski & Snowboard, France, says; “I am travelling from France to recruit Hotel School graduates with a flair for the hospitality industry and a passion for customer service. Recruiting college graduates to work for us ensures they have the appropriate professional training required and the drive to achieve in the industry".
Agreda Lyons, HR Manager, Dromoland Castle, says “I attend the Careers Fair every year to recruit students and graduates. Many GMIT students have completed their work placements at Dromoland Castle, and we have found these students to have excellent work ethic and drive. This is why I return every year in search of more talent.”
Lorraine Hanahoe, Jurys Inn Galway, says: “Jurys Inn has been involved with the Hotel School Careers Fair for the past six years. During this time, Jurys Inn has found the event to be very beneficial in recruiting the management team from graduates of the Hotel School.
Cáit Noone, Head of the Hotel School, GMIT, says this year’s fair has a wider spectrum of exhibitors than in previous years. “Traditionally we have had hotels, hotel groups and recruitment companies attending the fair and this continues to be the case this year. However we also have employers in the Tourism, Retail, and Event Management sectors this year looking to fill positions at home and abroad. Members of the public looking for employment opportunities are also welcome to attend this event. Please bring along a few copies of your CV on the day.”
