Press Release

Due to the impact of the pandemic, online classes in GMIT will recommence on the 25th January 2021, with some exceptions including:

  • Department of Nursing, Health Sciences & Social Care
  • Initial Teacher Education (Letterfrack)
  • Apprenticeships
  • some Springboard/HCI/July Stimulus courses

Specific communications will issue by email from each School as to the above exceptions.

In accordance with Government/public health advice, NO onsite practicals/labs/workshops will take place in January. This will be subject to ongoing Government review.

Work placements will go ahead where these can be accommodated by employers.

Note that all campuses remain open for essential activities.

We appreciate this is a difficult and uncertain time for both students and staff. For any students experiencing difficulties, please remember the range of supports that are available, including graduate mentors, exams help desk, and counselling services.

Our Student Services, Students Union and School Offices also remain open to students and we have a mitigation policy in place to take account of individual student circumstances.

At this time, please take care of yourself and those around you, follow the public health guidelines and stay safe.
