Nursing Research and Informatics

To provide students with an introductory knowledge and understanding of the nature, purposes, methods and techniques of research in health care including an outline understanding of the research process. To provide students with an overview of current and relevant principles of health information technology and nursing informatics as applied in nursing practice.

1. Describe the function research has in the practice of nursing.

2. Demonstrate an ability to use systems for searching relevant literature.

3. Demonstrate the development of critical thinking and analysis skills.

4. Demonstrate familiarity with the research process.

5. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of health information technology.

6. Demonstrate understanding of the application of informatics in the delivery of nursing practice.
