Description

The module is an introduction to the professional role of the Architectural Technologist in practice and the legal context in which the profession operates in Ireland.

Learning Outcomes

  1. General concept of the roles, responsibilities and liabilities of the Architectural Technologist in practice

  2. Demonstrate an understanding of Planning & Development Legislation (Planning Law, Procedure and Practice)

  3. Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of current relevant legislation and regulations relating to planning, building control, environment, conservation,construction and architectural practice.

  4. Demonstrate an understanding of Health & Safety Legislation (Law, Procedure & Practice),

  5. Demonstrate an ability to initiate and manage a good system of record keeping,production of documents, document retrieval, circulation of information and practice management

  6. Demonstrate an understanding of the key concepts involved in Tort of negligence, nuisance and defamation

  7. Identify and explain an awareness of Irish law and the legal system

  8. Understand and explain the Irish legal system, the nature of legal proceedings and their effects on the construction industry
