An independent project is completed by the learner. The project is normally based in industry Students are supervised during their project, but are expected to complete most of their work independently.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Undertake literature reviews, develop a project plan, perform the necessary investigative work and write a dissertation on their findings.

  2. Source scientific and/or regulatory literature and access relevant information through the use of journals, books, abstracts, current contents, inter-library loans, the Internet, CD-ROM and other electronic media

  3. Design and undertake appropriate work and present results.

  4. Identify the appropriate methods for research, to analyse experimental results and to modify the project as relevant.

  5. Reflect on their project results and to be able to present their results, discuss the outcomes of the project and identify areas for improvement in their skills of project management.
