Research Project

Description

The learner will undertake approved research under the direction of an internal supervisor. Learners may select a research topic from any discipline within the course and from an area of expertise of the supervisor. The design, planning, execution and reporting of the research should be led by the learner with advice and guidance provided the supervisor.

Sustainable development topics referenced within the module include: Zero Hunger; Good Health and Well-Being; Clean Water and Sanitation; Sustainable Cities and Communities; Responsible Consumption and Production; Climate Action; Life Below Water;Life On Land.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Design, plan, conduct and report a research project that scientifically tests a research hypothesis(es)

  2. Select and synthesise information available in scientific literature in order to establish the need, scope and context of the research.

  3. Collect and analyse data qualitatively and quantitatively, including an assessment of the statistical validity of the research result.

  4. Manage resources allocated to completing a scientific research project.

  5. Communicate research results in written and oral forms, demonstrating critical analysis, synthesis and organisation of knowledge, and the construction of a rational and lucid scientific argument
