Description

An introduction to Irish law, especially Health and Safety regulation. Professionals working with children, young people and adults require a deep appreciation of health, safety and well-being. Risk assessment in play activities, adventure sports and analysis of accidents and incidents in activities. The regulation of activities. Children First 2015 and Child Care (Preschool Regulations) 2016.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Have a knowledge and understanding of the legislation, safety requirements and regulations associated with activities, outdoors and indoors.

  2. Have a specific understanding of the risk associated with outdoor activities and management of same, identify risk-rich environments to support children's well-being, play and resilience.

  3. An understanding and an ability to implement a child protection policy

  4. An ability to assess and manage risk associated with outdoor activities

  5. Appreciate their responsibility to work in a safe manner with a proactive approach to safety in the outdoors and indoors.
