This module covers digital methods of capturing, processing and analysing signals and images.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand and explain the theory, concepts and methods of signal and image processing.

  2. Sample signals effectively and reconstruct signals from samples.

  3. Design and implement digital filters that meet stated specifications.

  4. Utilise Fourier Transform techniques for signal and image analysis and enhancement.

  5. Critically assess the reliability, appropriateness and limitations of various signal and image processing techniques.

  6. Assess the technical, industrial, economic and forensic significance of developments in signal and image processing technology.
