Description

To provide students with a knowledge and understanding of the nature, purposes, terminology, methods and techniques of research and to develop their research skills for application in a broad range of applied social studies contexts.

Learning Outcomes

  1. have a broad, integrated knowledge and understanding of the nature, purposes, terminology,methods and techniques of research and their potential practical applications in a broad range of applied social studies contexts, (Domain: 1.10, 1.12, 1.19, 1.23, 5.1, 5.2, 5.17)

  2. have an understanding of the value of adopting a systematic approach and be able to exercise appropriate judgement in designing social research proposals including selection of appropriate methods to apply, (Domain: 1, 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.12, 1.15, 1.17, 1.19, 1.21, 1.22, 2.2, 2.9, 3.5, 3.7, 3.13, 5.2, 5.17)
