Studio Practice 1

Description

In this module the learner will choose from the following areas of studio practice for exploration and investigation; Ceramics, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Textiles.

Students will be introduced to the areas through presentations delivered by staff and senior students. As part of this module, learners will then be based in the appropriate studios and workshops.

The learner will be instructed in, and adhere to, specific and general good studio practice and Health and Safety norms.

The learner will be introduced to basic materials and processes specific to the area of practice.

The learner will undertake visual, historical, contextual and technical research relevant to the area of practice.

The learner will complete a set of tasks which allows them the opportunity to engage with the practice processes and present the results for assessment.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a basic engagement with the specific studio practice in terms of process, materials and creative application and document this in annotated workbooks.

  2. Demonstrate an appropriate awareness of good workshop practice and Health and Safety requirements specific to the studio practice.

  3. Consider the potential of the specific pathway in relation to their individual further learning.

  4. Present task work for assessment and analyse the potential of the specific pathway in relation to their individual further learning.
