Sustainability

Description

This module aims to develop student awareness of current and emerging sustainability issues in the international business context. The tensions between shareholder and stakeholder perspectives are also explored. The module is focused primarily on the international business context and underpinned by the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. This module highlights the responsibility of business to develop strategies that create economic, social, and ecologic value.  This comprises three sections: the first element focusses on understanding sustainability within the business context; the second part focuses on current sustainability issues; and the last part concentrates on the internal and external stakeholders.  

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of sustainability within a contemporary business context.

  2. Contrast different theories which inform how decisions are made in the international business context.

  3. Discuss sustainability strategies that respond to current and emerging sustainability issues.

  4. Apply a stakeholder-orientated approach which creates economic, social and ecologic value.

  5. Develop communication strategies with internal and external stakeholders to support sustainable action.
