Tourism Facilities Management and Design

Description

The learner will develop an understanding of facilities design, management and maintenance for the hospitality and tourism sector. The module will provide the learner with the operational codes of practice as laid out in legislation and associated regulations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Gain an understanding of the importance of facility management, maintenance and design in the development and operation of a tourism related business.

  2. Demonstrate a knowledge of operational codes of practice, and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, security and risk management in tourism facilities management and design.

  3. Develop an awareness of the critical stages in a building or refurbishment programme and review the core components of a design brief for a selected tourism business.

  4. Identify the major trends and issues in facility operations and property management; interior design, service, maintenance, performance efficiency, ergonomics.

  5. Apply the principles of quality management, service delivery process, capacity planning, queue management and work measurement to a selected tourism business.
