Work Based Project

Description

This module provides the opportunity to examine a work related issue and to develop transferable intellectual and employability skills to enter the jobs market. Working under the guidance of an academic supervisor, students will be offered the opportunity to work on an industry-based project to solve practical problems that require an application-oriented thinking.

The aim therefore of this module is to enable students to use the knowledge, skills and competence gained in preceding programme modules and apply them in their work environment. Students will focus on work-based issues or problems which have the potential to contribute to their own personal and/or managerial development. The module is based on the action learning cycle of 1. Action; 2. Learning from the experience of action; 3. Reflection; 4. Action (new action or changes). The overall objective is for students to develop the ability to question, understand, reflect and gain insight into how to act in the future in relation to their specific project topic.

Through this module, the student acquires requisite skills in experimental techniques, data evaluation, and written and oral communication as well as an understanding of the business in which they work.

In addition, the student will gain experience in analysing and interpreting data and presenting their results in a clear and competent manner both in written and oral format
