Work Project-Climate Resilience for Business

Description

The purpose of this module is to lead the students through the process of carrying out a detailed project that involves an investigation of a relevant work-based environmental issue and preparation of a technical report which can be used to address or improve the environmental performance of the work place.

The project can either be particular to a work place or business or it can be appropriate for the sector.  Students are expected to use the knowledge and skills gained in the other programme modules to identify the environmental issues and problems, analyse the options available and propose solutions or mitigation measures that can be practically implemented. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically evaluate work activities with a focus on Identifying operations  that have a significant environmental impact.

  2. Critically analyse the environmental impact of a workplace operation or activity.

  3. Design and plan a project that addresses the environmental impact of a workplace activity or operation.

  4. Analyse a selected work based activity to identify possible environmental impact mitigation measures and current best practice.  

  5. Write a comprehensive report on a selected work activity which explores its environmental impacts, identifies the alternatives and outlines the implementation of a solution that will reduce or mitigate the impacts.

  6. Demonstrate the ability to engage in reflective practice and critically evaluate their learning from an individual and organisational perspective.
